This might seem obvious but, surprisingly, many Companies don’t consider SEO goals. Without any SEO goals or KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) how will you know you were successful or not? Before you start anything you should write down what you want to achieve so you can focus your attention and not get side tracked. For SEO you might optimise a page for a specific key phrase but if you get half way through this process and then decide to change the objective you’ll end up with a web page that isn’t optimised for anything.
If your goal is to gain new customers then your strategy would be different from a goal that wants to increase the spending of current customers. Decide on your SEO goals; what do you want to achieve? Who are you trying to target? Write them down and you can then review them at the next iteration. Use KPIs so you know you’re heading in the right direction.
As an example, if you run a flower shop then one goal might be to try increase sales for Mother’s day and a KPI for this might be an increase in page views to your web page that you have optimised for Mother’s day.
